Project Information
Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-11-0001
Project Abstract:
This project will use Raman spectroscopy to develop a rapid method to identify alkali-silica reaction (ASR) gels in concrete.
Goals
The key project objective is to develop a rapid method to identify the presence of alkali-silica reaction (ASR) gels in concrete. No reliable test exists to detect the presence of ASR gels in existing structures. If the research is successful, Raman spectroscopy is a very suitable and easy technique for field use.
