Project Information
Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-12-0015
Project Abstract:
Traditional pavement analysis methods are intended for repeated loading and accumulated fatigue damage based primarily on strain response. However, a permit request for one-time movement of superload and analysis should ideally be based on strength analysis and risk of instantaneous failure. Analysis methods and tools will be developed to conduct a factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
Goals
Develop analysis methods and tools to conduct a factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
