Project Description
Repair damage caused by Hurricanes Maria and Irma in September of 2017. Work includes roadway reconstruction including asphalt concrete pavement replacement, gabion retaining wall construction, culvert and guardrail installation, and other miscellaneous work.
Route 40, Site 5 (St. Thomas) work (18°21'36. 94"N, 64°56'56.28"W): A retaining wall collapsed along Peter Mountain Road (Route 40), resulting in fill embankment failure, roadway washout, and guardrail damage. The retaining wall will be repaired, the roadway will be reconstructed, and guardrail will be replaced.
Route 303 (St. Thomas) work (18°20'49.84"N, 64°57'40.61"W): Floodwaters caused failure of an existing culvert, retaining wall, concrete roadway surface, and embankment along Hide Away Road (Route 303). The retaining wall and embankment will be repaired, the culvert will be replaced, and the roadway will be reconstructed.
Route 37 (St. Thomas) work (18°21'27.51"N, 64°56'20.75"W): Floodwaters caused failures to an existing retaining wall and guardrail along Hull Bay Road (Route 37). The retaining wall will be repaired, and the guardrail and existing utility pole will be replaced.
Route 10, Site 4 (St. John) work (18°20'46.84"N, 64°44'21.17"W): Floodwaters caused damage to an existing steel retaining wall along Centerline Road (Route 10), including damages to the paved waterway, cut and fill slopes, and undermining of a section of the roadway. The retaining wall will be repaired and the roadway, paved waterway and embankment slopes will be reconstructed. Guardrail will also be replaced.
